Male Pattern Hair Loss: Understanding Androgenetic Alopecia
In most men, hair loss is linked to a hereditary cause called androgenetic alopecia. A specific enzyme converts testosterone into DHT (dihydrotestosterone), which overstimulates the sebaceous glands. Excess sebum can clog hair follicles, depriving the hair bulb of oxygen and gradually causing hair loss.
Baldness generally develops in several stages over several years: receding temples, the appearance of a bald area at the top of the head, until only a crown at the sides and back is left. This process can be aggravated by poor diet, stress, certain medications, or unsuitable hair products that leave residue.
There is no miracle solution, but targeted treatments can help rebalance the hair cycle and slow the progression of hair loss.
