Seborrheic eczema of the scalp often begins with dandruff, followed by red patches that can become greasy and yellowish. This condition is linked to a naturally occurring fungus on the skin, which, under the influence of sebum, promotes the onset of symptoms, including itching and burning sensations.

This dermatitis can last from a few weeks to several years. It mainly affects men between the ages of 18 and 40 chronically, but is increasingly affecting women. Although it usually appears on the scalp, it can spread to the forehead, face, and sometimes the body.

There is no definitive treatment, but the use of appropriate care can often significantly alleviate or even eliminate symptoms.
